I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more...

Okay, no I wouldn't. But I DID run 13.1 miles, and I would definitely do it again! Jami, Jeni, and I ran the Provo River Half Marathon this morning. We got up at 3am (yeah, as if that's not enough to convince us that we were crazy) to get ready for the big event :). I picked the girls up at 4 and we headed to the Riverwoods shopping center to park and shuttle to the starting line up the canyon. We were a little early, we got to the starting line and it was pitch-black, we could only see one porta-potty in the bus' headlights. We wandered around in the dark for a little while, but eventually the sun came up and we began the race at 6:30. Jami was out of sight before we had even run 10 yards - she was on a serious mission! Jeni and I ran along at a good pace (for us) and shared entertaining stories for 2 hours and 15 minutes. It actually flew by, and we had so much fun! I totally want to do another one! I really didn't have a time-goal in mind, I just hoped to beat my SLC half marathon time, which we did by 10 minutes. That was enough to make me happy! Jami finished in under 2 hours, way to go Jami! After we got our drop bags we decided to go through a couple stores in the Riverwoods. I was pretty gross, so after a little shopping I decided we had better head home to shower. We got to the car in the deserted parking lot - all of the runners had left as soon as they were done I guess. We buckled the kids in, decided to go to Wendy's for Frosty's, put the key in the ignition, and... nothing. I guess in my half-awake stupor this morning I had left my headlights on and the car battery had died. :) Figures. We couldn't get a hold of anyone that we knew in Provo (yes, Benji and Ashley, THAT's what we were calling you about :), but then we remembered that we had roadside assistance. We called and they said they would be about 30 minutes. Not quite. Over an hour later they showed up, jumped the car, and we were finally on our way. We did stop at Wendy's for lunch, got home and showered, then the kids and I took VERY long naps for the rest of the afternoon. Aside from the car troubles, it was a great Saturday! Thanks for training with me and running today girls! You were both awesome!

In other news... it turns out that my poor little old digital camera has taken it's last picture, it is officially dead. It won't even turn on. SO, yea for me I get a new camera, but I won't have any pictures to post for a week while I wait for it to ship to me. I don't know HOW you all will live :)

Yay for us!! That really sucks that you left your lights on. When I read your text message, I totally remembered your lights on when we walked away. I was so tired that I didn't think anything of it! I'm glad that you guys made it home alright.

Way to go on another 1/2 this summer. I am seriously impressed. The thought of running still makes me a little sick to my stomach.

Congrats on running! That is awesome. So, I about died when I read your Walmart story. I swear every time I go to Walmart I leave saying I'll never go back!! Nothing that's happened to me compares to your story though!

You did awesome!! It has been so fun getting ready for the race. Lets sleep in for at least a week and then we can talk about the future. Sorry we left you after the race, I just wasn't in the mood to shop I guess. Next time we will remember to check the lights! You are great!

you are so amazing! I am always so inspired when anyone runs any amount of distance (because I run about 1/2 a mile and I'm tired!!). You don't even look that tired in your pics!

Nicely done!!!! You girls rock! I am totally impressed. Why can't I get motivated to do that sort of stuff.....wait.........I think it's because I despise running. Tell me, does it get any easier???
