Well, let's just say little ears pick up
everything! I had my I-Pod on while I took a shower this afternoon. While I got dressed I could hear the Aqua song "Barbie Girl" playing and McKinley dancing and singing along. I walked out of the bathroom just as McKinley belted out the line "You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere..." AHHH! That's JUST what I want my 3-year-old dancing around singing! Just to clarify, this song was on a random mixed (Jock Jams, yes I'm OLD) CD, and I had
never heard it play on my I-Pod before. McKinley had never heard it before, but in the 3 minutes that the song played before I entered the room, she learned the chorus pretty well. I actually would never have thought anything of the song, it just seemed like a silly pop song, until I heard the lyrics come from the mouth of my 3-year-old. So, if anyone is wondering if your kids really pick up what is on TV or music in the background, YES THEY DO! And if you happen to hear McKinley singing the previously mentioned line, PLEASE don't think I am a horrible parent! I really do try! Unfortunately, she LOVES Barbies, so she couldn't
understand why this wasn't the greatest song EVER written (lyrics aside, she must get her musical preferences from her dad, I can't STAND that song) :). We had a long talk about how the words to that song don't sound very nice, so hopefully that took care of it, but you just never know with preschoolers!

No judgements from me. Cayden's favorite song used to be "I like big butts and I can not lie, no other brother can deny, when a girl walks in with a itty bitty..." He would sing it all the time. At Wal-mart, church, you name it. We talked and talked about the words and why it wasn't a nice song but he just really like the tune I guess. I'm happy to report he no longer sings the song. :)
funny!! i love it when little kids belt out songs that suddenly sound very inapropriate. ill probably change my mind when i have my own kids but for now...its awesome!
It is amazing what little ears pick up on. I know my kids have heard and repeated many obscene things. You are just fine and an awesome parent!
That is so funny! It really is incredible what kids pick up on. I am always shocked when Eric repeats something that we had heard or talked about a few days earlier.
Oh my goodness that is so hilarious! Even more hilarious is that you have that song on your ipod. We may just have to listen to it on the way down to St. George.

Oh so funny! Thanks for sharing. My husband picks out songs on the internet that the kids like to dance to, "Macarena" etc. and tonight I heard the beginnings of the song, "I'm too sexy for my shirt..." and I said, "Hey, they'll memorize that in one listen--better pick a new song!!
That's hillarious, the same thing happened to us! She still sings it though :)
