Some McKinleyisms...

I was laying in McKinley's bed with her a couple of nights ago at bedtime. I had been having a very nostalgic week, so this was how our conversation went:

Me: McKinley
McKinley: Yes Mom?
Me: Could you just stop growing? You are just getting too big, I want you to stay my little McKinley forever and ever.
McKinley: Mom, you're right. I should stop growing. If I don't, I might get too big and I won't fit through the door.

Hmmmm... very true, but not quite where I was going with it. I love the things 3-year-olds say! Life is so simple to them, why do grown-ups make everything so complicated?

Yesterday we were making zucchini bread for some neighbors. We hadn't made it before, and apparently McKinley hadn't heard of it either. She watched me curiously and helped me add flour and sugar. Finally she said, "Mom, why do you want to put a bikini in the bread?" I explained to her that is was actually a vegetable called zucchini, and then showed her what it looked like before I shredded it up. I think she understood, although she is still referring to it as "bikini bread". :)

Awwwweee. Those are the moments you want to bottle up forever! BTW-sorry I am a slacker. I got distracted yesterday and forgot to send you Bethany's phone number and email. I'll make sure to get it to you today. Sorry!

Too cute! Kids say the cutest things. One day when Cayden was like 3, we were driving to Seven Peaks and were just passing the MTC. Cayden spoke up and asked, "Mom, why don't they have any fish in there?" (MTC=empty sea) I laughed so hard I think I wet my pants. Enjoy those conversations because when they get older you're lucky to get more than a one syllable answer. :)

I started a little notebook of funny things Elli said starting when she was like 2 or so. I keep it in my kitchen drawer. Unfortunately I often forget, but there are some dang funny things in there and I love to go back through and read them!

That is so cute. I wonder all the time where they get things like that. Brooklyn says the funniest things like that.
