Several months ago I was called into the Young Women's to teach the Beehives. It is a calling that I feel so inadequately prepared for, but I am ever so grateful to be a part of. This past week I have been preparing for today's lesson on Temple Marriage and Eternal Families. As I read and re-read the lesson over and over this week, I prayed to know what to say to the young women to convey the importance of this lesson to them. It is a lesson that I can remember hearing many times as a youth, but I don't think I fully understood the importance of choosing the right companion and not settling for anything less than a temple marriage. As I shared with my young women today when I taught this lesson, I didn't understand fully until my first child was born, and I realized that I wasn't just about me. I realized then that my choices affected my children, my family, and my posterity for generations beyond. Miles' passing further strengthened my testimony of the significance of the decision that I made almost 9 years ago to marry Matt in the temple, and to be sealed to him for eternity. Because of that decision that we made together, each of my children is sealed to us, and we will be together as a family for time and all eternity. That includes our sweet Miles. Death is not the end. He is ours, he has been sealed to us, and he will be ours to reunite with and raise in the hereafter. This is not just something that I believe, or hope for, this is what I know. I have never before been so grateful for this knowledge. I hope that I can instill the eternal importance of this principle into my own children, and into the girls that I teach. Cute Maylee loves to carry Miles' picture with her everywhere. She has a few of them, but they have gotten a little bit crumpled and dirty being constantly in the hands of a 2-year-old. It's funny to watch her, though, as she carries her picture with her everywhere. She talks to Miles' picture, and shows her picture to everyone she meets, telling them that he is 'my bebe.' I cannot help but feel that she has a special connection to him, that they were very close in the life before. Anyhow, as I prepared this lesson I decided to make Maylee a little book with Miles' pictures in it and the words to the primary song "Families Can Be Together Forever." I threw it together on photoshop, laminated it (so she could still carry it everywhere), and had it spiral bound into a little book just for her. She LOVES it, she takes it everywhere with her (even to bed), and loves to point to the pictures and talk about 'her bebe.' I love that she loves her little brother so much, and I hope that she will keep that with her and always know the importance of eternal families. I am so very grateful that our little family will be together forever.
